The Difference between Toners and Essences
I am sure that as people who are passionate about cosmetics and skincare, you have heard about Toners and Essences. I am also sure though, that some of you have been confused by the differences between the two (I was too…). So that is why I decided to write this short blog and help you solve this conundrum once and for all!
Toners and essences both represent a key part of the Korean skincare routine. In fact, they normally come in sequential steps following a cleanser. However, while they sometime may look similar in their packaging, they play a very different role in the skincare routine.
Toner, is to be applied after using a cleanser and it helps with removing any remaining oils, dust and impurities left on the skin as well as balancing the pH level of the skin. Furthermore, a toner should be normally applied on the skin using a cotton pad.

An essence on the other hand, soothes the skin, provides it with a boost of hydration and better prepares it to absorb the serum and moisturizer that come in the steps afterwards. Furthermore, as opposed to a toner, an essence is better off applied using the palm of your hands by gently pat them on the face, forehead and neck.

Well there you have it! I hope this blog helped you better understand the differences between toners and essences and the different roles they play in the Korean skincare routine :)
